PCB Ends Azhar Mahmood's Test Coach Contract Early

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to end Azhar Mahmood's contract as the head coach of the national Test team three months before it was supposed to end.

His contract was supposed to last until March 2026, but the PCB wants to start looking for a new coach now.

The next Test match for Pakistan is also in March 2026, so they want to be prepared.

Azhar Mahmood has been working with the team in different roles for a few years.

The PCB is also looking for a new coach for the women's team because the previous coach's contract was not renewed.

They might also change other support staff members.

Pakistan has some important Test matches coming up, including tours to Bangladesh, West Indies, England, and home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Additionally, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has invited England's Joe Root to participate in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, 2026.
