Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger Could Cost 4,500 Los Angeles Jobs

Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger Could Cost 4,500 Los Angeles Jobs

A report studied what might happen to jobs if Paramount and Warner Bros.

Discovery merge.

It estimates that about 4,500 film and television jobs in Los Angeles could disappear over three years.

When related businesses are included, the total loss could reach 10,360 jobs.

The report says the merged company might reduce costs, combine departments, and move some production away from Los Angeles.

Paramount says Hollywood is already struggling and that the merger could create a stronger company.

Paramount also says it plans to spend USD 30 billion each year on production and release at least 30 films annually.

The merger cannot close yet because an antitrust trial is scheduled for March 2027.

A separate legal case by the Writers Guild of America raises concerns about fewer opportunities for writers.
