Rathindra Bose Launches Effort to Revive Cooch Behar’s Historic Dighis
Rathindra Bose is helping clean and protect old lakes in Cooch Behar.
These lakes were created during the time of the former royal family.
Fish babies, called fingerlings, were released into several lakes.
People also held prayers beside the water.
Special aarti ceremonies will be held at two more lakes.
The organisers want people to remember why these lakes are important.
They also want children and residents to enjoy clean waterbodies.
The effort is meant to protect history, nature and public health.
Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose and the district administration began efforts to rejuvenate Cooch Behar’s historic dighis.
Fingerlings were released and prayers were offered at four lakes on Saturday.
Ganga aartis are scheduled for Bairagi Dighi on Sunday and Sagar Dighi on Monday.
The initiative aims to reconnect the waterbodies with Cooch Behar’s royal heritage and local traditions.
