Max, LIC Face GST Demands
Two big companies, Max Healthcare and LIC, got notices from the government saying they owe money for something called GST.
Max Healthcare has to pay around ₹55 crore, which includes the GST, some extra money for being late, and a fine.
LIC has to pay about ₹57.52 crore across three states for similar reasons.
Max Healthcare's stock price went down a little, but LIC's stock price went up.
Both companies plan to argue against these notices.
The government says the companies didn't pay enough taxes or claimed too much back, but the companies think they might not owe as much as the government says.
Max Healthcare received a GST demand notice from Delhi authorities totaling ₹55.20 crore, including GST, interest, and penalty.
LIC received GST demand orders across Telangana, Maharashtra, and Delhi totaling approximately ₹57.52 crore.
Max Healthcare's shares ended at ₹1,046.60, down by 1.64% on the BSE.
LIC's shares ended at ₹855.10, up by 5.85% on the BSE.
Both companies plan to file appeals against the GST demands.
