US, Saudi Urge Restraint in Yemen Conflict
There is a lot of fighting in Yemen.
The US and Saudi Arabia are asking everyone to calm down and talk things out.
Saudi Arabia wants a group called the Southern Transitional Council (STC) to leave the areas they have taken over and give control back to the government.
The STC, which is supported by the UAE, has taken over some areas and says they will keep securing them.
The Saudi-led coalition says they will stop any moves by the STC that make things worse.
Both sides are trying to find a peaceful solution.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged restraint and continued diplomacy in Yemen, thanking Saudi Arabia and UAE for their diplomatic leadership.
Saudi Arabia urged the Southern Transitional Council (STC) to withdraw peacefully from seized provinces and hand over control to the Riyadh-backed government.
The STC, backed by the UAE, ousted the Saudi-backed government from Aden and claimed control across the south, rejecting a Saudi call to withdraw.
Yemen's Saudi-led coalition warned the STC against moves in Hadramout that could undermine de-escalation efforts, vowing to protect civilians.
Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman urged the STC to respond to mediation efforts and resolve disputes by consensus.
