Villager Praised for Returning Elephant Tusk
A man named Maniram Boro found a broken elephant tusk in the forest.
Instead of keeping it, he decided to give it to the forest department.
He contacted his relative, a former forest officer, who helped him hand over the tusk.
The forest officer praised Maniram for his honest act.
This is the second time a broken tusk has been found in this forest.
The first time, two other people found a tusk and also gave it to the forest department.
The forest has been a home for wild elephants since 2016, and sometimes they lose their tusks while looking for food.
Maniram Boro found a broken elephant tusk in Maliata RF while collecting firewood.
He contacted his relative, Dharani Dhar Boro, a former forest officer, for guidance.
Maniram handed over the 250-gram tusk to forest personnel at Dharani Dhar Boro's home.
This is the second time a broken tusk has been found in the forest; the first was in October 2024.
Dharani Dhar Boro praised Maniram's act of honesty and emphasized the importance of appreciating such actions.
