Honduras begins manual recount amid election turmoil

In Honduras, the presidential election happened on November 30, but there's still no clear winner.

The electoral council started a manual recount on December 18 because some tally sheets had mistakes.

The leading candidate, Nasry Asfura, is ahead by about 43,000 votes, but hundreds of thousands of votes still need to be counted.

Protesters, mainly from the LIBRE party, say the election was unfair and want a full recount.

The U.S. government has also been involved, supporting Asfura and calling for a quick resolution.

The electoral council has until December 30 to certify the results, and if they can't agree, Congress might have to decide.

It's a complicated situation with a lot of different opinions.
