Suspect Plotting to Target West Bengal Chief Minister
A man named Hamim Mondal was caught by police in West Bengal.
They say he was planning to go to Dubai to meet people who help terrorists.
He was also spying on the West Bengal Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari, and telling his handlers where the chief minister would be.
Police are trying to find out if he was going to hurt the chief minister.
Another woman, Arpita Sarkar, was also arrested because she helped him talk to the terrorists.
The police are still looking for more people who might be part of this plan.
Hamim Mondal was arrested in Burdwan for allegedly planning a Dubai trip to meet a Pakistan‑based terror network.
Investigators say he was gathering and passing information on West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s movements to his handlers.
Hamim was in the process of obtaining a passport for the Dubai trip but had not finished the paperwork before his arrest.
Arpita Sarkar, an associate of Hamim, was also arrested and is suspected of acting as an intermediary for the network.
The West Bengal Special Task Force is probing whether the Howrah residence was used to coordinate the alleged conspiracy.
