India's Industrial Output Grows 4% in September, Slowest in Three Months

Imagine India's factories and mines as a big workshop.

In September, the total work done by this workshop grew by 4%.

This is a bit slower than it has been recently.

The part of the workshop that makes things, called manufacturing, did really well, growing by almost 5%.

This is good news because it means more products are being made.

The government made some changes to taxes (GST) which might have helped people buy more things, especially around the festive season.

However, the part that digs up resources, called mining, actually did less work, shrinking by 0.4%.

The part that provides power also grew, but not as much as manufacturing.

Even though the overall growth is slowing a little, the manufacturing part is strong.
