Venezuela Grants NABEP 100-Year Oil Concessions Under Deal

Venezuela Grants NABEP 100-Year Oil Concessions Under Deal

Venezuela has given an oil company called NABEP the right to operate 17 oil fields for 100 years.

The company is expected to pay about $200 billion in royalties and taxes during the first 25 years.

NABEP also says it will spend about $100 billion building oil infrastructure.

The White House says this could create jobs and increase economic activity in Venezuela.

A private company being created with NABEP would run the fields.

The United States would have the first chance to buy most of the oil produced.

A Pentagon office would own 25% of the parent company.

The deal follows an agreement between Washington and Caracas and is part of President Donald Trump’s effort to increase Venezuelan oil production.
