Maharashtra Congress Leaders Detained in Mumbai Protest
Some important leaders from the Congress party in Maharashtra were taken into custody by the Mumbai Police on Wednesday.
They were protesting in Mumbai and wanted the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, to step down.
The reason for their protest was the alleged harsh actions taken by the police against students who were protesting in Delhi.
The Congress leaders and their supporters sat on a wet road during heavy rain, shouting slogans against the central government.
They were stopped by the police and taken away to prevent them from marching further.
The police also increased security around the Congress party's headquarters in Mumbai to avoid any fights between the Congress and the BJP workers.
Maharashtra Congress leaders, including Harshwardhan Sapkal and Vijay Wadettiwar, were detained by Mumbai Police during a protest.
The protest demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged police action against students in Delhi.
Protesters braved heavy rain and were stopped by police before being detained and moved into police vehicles.
Senior Congress leader Husain Dalwai accused the government of suppressing democratic dissent and misusing police force.
