SAARC Summit Agrees on Secretariat
A long time ago, on December 8, 1985, leaders from seven countries in South Asia met in Dhaka.
They decided to create a permanent office for their group, called SAARC, and to form a committee to talk about terrorism.
Meanwhile, in India, there were some sad events.
In a place called Ballia, some people were hurt in a fight.
Also, the government told a factory in Delhi to stop making dangerous chemicals after a big accident.
The leaders also had a short meeting to talk about issues between their countries, but they didn't discuss some big ideas about peace and nuclear weapons that one leader had suggested.
Leaders of seven South Asian countries agreed to establish a permanent SAARC secretariat during a summit in Dhaka.
A committee was set up to discuss all aspects of terrorism in the region.
Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and President Ziaul Haq of Pakistan had a brief meeting to discuss bilateral issues.
Four people were killed and six injured in a caste-related violence incident in Rasulpur village, UP.
The Delhi Administration ordered Shriram Foods and Fertilisers to suspend production of hazardous chemicals.
