Tamil Nadu Education Body Urges Centre to Abolish NTA

Tamil Nadu Education Body Urges Centre to Abolish NTA

A Tamil Nadu education rights group wants the government to stop using centralised tests for undergraduate admissions.

It says the National Testing Agency has faced complaints about its examinations.

The group wants colleges to use students’ board-examination marks instead.

It also suggested using Tamil Nadu’s normalisation method for all-India quota admissions.

The organisation believes centralised tests can make it harder for disadvantaged students to enter universities.

It said the testing system may also weaken the role of states in education.

The group criticised the outsourcing and commercialisation of examination services.

It asked governments to improve public education and make education a fundamental right.
