Vengsarkar Slams Hayden's Gambhir Criticism
Before a cricket match, Gautam Gambhir, the Indian coach, and the groundskeeper at the Oval had a disagreement.
A former Australian player, Matthew Hayden, commented on the issue, suggesting the groundskeeper might have been showing off his authority.
Another former Indian player, Dilip Vengsarkar, disagreed with Hayden.
Vengsarkar thought Gambhir was right to want to check the pitch closely, a thing that doesn't happen in India, where visiting teams can look closely at the pitch.
Vengsarkar also questioned if Hayden would have reacted the same way if the incident had involved Australian players.
Dilip Vengsarkar criticized Matthew Hayden's comments on Gautam Gambhir's confrontation with the Oval pitch curator.
The incident occurred before the fifth Test match during a practice session.
Gambhir and the curator, Lee Fortis, had a heated exchange.
Hayden suggested the curator might have been asserting authority.
Vengsarkar questioned how Australian players would react to similar treatment.
