Undertrial Assaults Policeman in Mumbai Jail
A man who is waiting for his trial in jail got very angry and hit a police officer in Mumbai.
The man, named Lokendra, was brought back to the jail after going to court.
He started shouting bad words at the police officers.
One officer tried to calm him down, but Lokendra hit him in the nose with his head, making the officer bleed.
Other officers quickly stopped Lokendra and took him to the hospital.
The injured officer reported the incident to the police, and now the man who hit him might get in more trouble.
An undertrial prisoner, Lokendra Uday Singh Rawat (35), assaulted Police Constable Hani Baburao Wagh (30) at Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai.
The incident occurred on January 27, 2024, around 9 pm, after Rawat was brought back from Dindoshi Court.
Rawat allegedly headbutted Constable Wagh, causing injuries to his nose and bleeding.
Other constables intervened, restrained Rawat, and informed prison authorities, who sent Rawat for a medical examination.
A case has been registered against Rawat under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
