India Needs $2.4 Trillion for Climate-Resilient Cities

India needs a lot of money, about $2.4 trillion, to make its cities strong against climate change and low in carbon emissions by 2050.

So far, the cities have only raised a small amount, $476 million.

Cities are very important for India's economy, making up 60% of the GDP.

The government has plans and funds to help, like the Urban Challenge Fund and the Smart Cities Mission.

Experts say that to make India's cities better, they need good governance, smart planning, and more investment.

They also think smaller cities have a lot of potential and should be developed more.
