Trump Calls for FCC Action After Attacking NBC Host
Donald Trump criticized NBC journalist Kristen Welker in posts on Truth Social.
Welker had described the results of Trump’s political endorsements as mixed.
Trump said that description was wrong and claimed his endorsements were successful almost all the time.
He asked the Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, to consider punishing or rebuking her.
He also criticized polls and news organizations that he believes treat him unfairly.
NBC said it supports Welker and considers her one of the best journalists in the business.
Trump and Welker have had disagreements before, including during an interview in June.
The argument is part of a larger fight between Trump and several news organizations.
Donald Trump criticized Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker over her “mixed results” assessment of his Republican endorsements.
Trump claimed a 99% overall endorsement success rate, including 100% for Senate candidates and 98% for House candidates.
He called on the Federal Communications Commission and Chairman Brendan Carr to address what he called inaccurate commentary and “fake polls.”
NBC defended Welker, saying she is “one of the best in the business” and that the network stands by her.
The dispute is part of Trump’s broader conflict with news organizations he accuses of hostile or unfair coverage.
