Delhi Court Denies Transfer in Newslaundry-Adani Gag Order Appeal
A Delhi court is dealing with a case about whether a news platform and journalist should be restricted from publishing content related to the Adani group.
The court was asked to transfer the case to a judge who had previously ruled against a similar restriction.
The court decided not to transfer the case, so it will be heard by a different judge.
This judge had already considered the case, but had recommended transferring it.
The original judge had previously decided the gag order should be lifted for other journalists.
The case is still ongoing with the next hearing scheduled soon.
A Delhi court refused to transfer the Newslaundry-Adani gag order appeal to a judge who had quashed a similar case.
The principal district and sessions judge, Gurvinder Pal Singh, made the decision.
The appeal challenges an ex parte order and will be heard by district judge Sunil Chaudhary.
Chaudhary had previously recommended transfer to district judge Ashish Aggarwal, who had set aside a gag order on other journalists.
The ministry had asked news outlets to take down content against the Adani group citing a civil judge's order.
