Vote Counting Begins for Bankipur, Datia, Manjalpur Bypolls
Three elections are happening in India to fill empty seats in the state legislatures of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Gujarat.
People went to vote on July 30, and the counting started on Monday morning.
In Datia, a lot of people voted, about 71 out of 100.
In Bankipur and Manjalpur, fewer people voted, about 34 and 38 out of 100.
The elections are important because they test new leaders for the ruling party and let a new political group try to win a seat.
The counting is being done very carefully with extra security and separate tables for mail votes.
Everyone is watching to see who will win, and the results will be announced later that day.
Vote counting began Monday morning for by-elections in Datia, Bankipur and Manjalpur under tight security.
Datia saw a 71.44% turnout, Bankipur 34.31% and Manjalpur 37.5%, with contests mainly between BJP and Congress, and in Bankipur also Jan Suraaj Party.
The Datia by-election is the first test for newly appointed BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal; Bankipur marks the electoral debut of Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor.
Counting venues used three‑tier security, separate tables for postal ballots, and EVMs were inspected by candidates before the count.
Results are expected later that day, with political parties closely monitoring trends.
