Naidu Asks Police to Maintain High Alert, 'Golden Hour' Response
The leader of a big region in India called Andhra Pradesh asked his police officers to work very hard to keep people safe.
His name is N. Chandrababu Naidu.
He told them to be ready to help quickly, within what he calls the 'golden hour.'
He wants officers to keep an eye out for new kinds of bad behaviour, like crimes that happen on phones and computers.
Over the past two years, fewer ordinary crimes have happened in the area.
But the leader says new types of crime are growing, including unfair things called 'digital arrests' and unkind posts on social media.
He wants police to use cameras and science, like DNA testing, to catch bad people.
He also wants police to be very serious about protecting women and to help make roads safer.
The leader says his government will support the police and that they should send out a report every month.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held his first police review meeting, from DGP level to SHOs, at the secretariat on Wednesday.
He directed police to remain on high alert, preserve crime-scene evidence and respond within the 'golden hour' to prevent crime.
Naidu cited a 14 per cent decline in cognisable crimes over the past two years, calling digital crime and 'digital arrests' major emerging challenges.
Nearly one lakh cameras, including 14,770 CCTVs from private organisations, have been linked to the police system for monitoring; facial recognition and DNA analysis are in use.
He stressed zero tolerance for crimes against women, plans for a national body to tackle drugs and ganja, and road-safety measures such as audits and accident hotspot identification.
