Supreme Court Grants Bail in 2024 Pune Porsche Case
The Supreme Court of India has allowed three people to go free on bail.
These people were accused of changing blood test results after a car accident in Pune in 2024.
The accident involved a Porsche and sadly killed two young software engineers.
The three people who got bail are Aditya Sood, Ashish Mittal, and Santosh Gaikwad.
They had been in jail for a year and a half.
The court said that since there were no serious charges against them, it was unfair to keep them in jail any longer.
However, they must follow certain rules set by the lower court, or their bail can be canceled.
Earlier, a lower court had refused to grant them bail, fearing they might influence witnesses.
The Supreme Court granted bail to Aditya Sood, Ashish Mittal, and Santosh Gaikwad, who were accused of tampering with blood samples in the 2024 Pune Porsche case.
The accused had been in jail for 18 months.
The court noted that there were no allegations against the juvenile in the backseat of the car, making it unlikely for the accused to be strongly implicated.
The Bombay High Court had previously denied bail to the three accused, citing risks of witness tampering and obstruction of justice.
The Supreme Court ordered the accused to be released on bail subject to conditions imposed by the trial court, with any infraction leading to cancellation of bail.
