Bombay HC Orders SGNP Slum Rehabilitation Evaluation
Imagine some families living near a big park in Mumbai.
They want to be able to stay there, but the government has rules.
The High Court has said that the government needs to look at all the papers of these families to see if they can stay.
The government has six weeks to do this.
A former politician suggested a vacant land to accommodate them.
The slum dwellers had settled before 1995, and are eligible for free housing, and the govt.
decides to rehabilitate those families settled till 2011.
It's like checking if they followed the rules to live there and if they can have a new house.
Bombay High Court has given the government six weeks to evaluate documents for SGNP slum rehabilitation.
The hearings and scrutiny are being carried out by SGNP officials.
Slum residents claim the land was originally private, acquired by the forest department.
