Thadou Inpi seeks third IDP category for displaced families outside Manipur
The Thadou Inpi Manipur, which represents the Thadou community, has asked the government to recognize Thadou families who have fled Manipur due to violence as a special group.
These families are living outside Manipur and are not getting help from the government.
The group says these families are facing many problems like losing their homes, not being able to go to school, and having no money.
They want the government to include these families in their relief and resettlement plans.
Thadou Inpi Manipur submitted a memorandum to the Governor, Supreme Court-appointed Committee, and other officials.
The memorandum seeks recognition of Thadou IDPs living outside Manipur as a distinct category for relief and resettlement.
The group appreciates government efforts but highlights the oversight of Thadou IDPs outside the state.
Nearly two years and eight months of violence have forced many Thadou families to flee Manipur.
The memorandum stresses the severe hardships faced by these IDPs, including loss of homes, disrupted education, and exclusion from relief mechanisms.
