Cargo Liquefaction Suspected After Ocean Winner Sinks In Minutes

The MV Ocean Winner was a very large ship carrying iron ore.

It suddenly leaned to one side and sank in about eight minutes.

The ship had 24 crew members, but only two were rescued.

Search teams continued looking for the other 22 people.

Experts think water may have made the fine iron ore behave like a liquid.

If that happened, the cargo could have shifted and made the ship unstable.

Investigators will check whether the cargo was too wet and whether safety rules were followed.

They will also examine whether the ship had structural damage or was affected by rough weather.

The exact cause has not yet been officially decided.
