India Opens Chinese Glycine, CPVC Resin Trade Investigations

India Opens Chinese Glycine, CPVC Resin Trade Investigations

India is checking whether some products from other countries are being sold too cheaply in its market.

One investigation concerns Glycine from China, which is used in food and medicines.

Avid Organics says these imports have hurt Indian producers.

Another investigation concerns CPVC resin from China and South Korea, which is used in industrial pipes.

Indian companies allege that the resin is being sent through Malaysia, Japan, and Thailand to avoid existing duties.

The trade remedies authority found early evidence that this may be happening.

It will study the evidence before making a recommendation.

India’s finance ministry will decide whether new duties should be imposed.

The investigations are intended to support fair competition and protect domestic industries.
