Ola Electric Lowers FY26 Outlook Amidst Market Consolidation and Shift to Profitability
Ola Electric, a company that makes electric vehicles, is planning to sell fewer scooters and make less money this year than they thought before.
This is because fewer people are buying electric scooters right now, and there are many more companies making them.
They are making less money, but they are also spending less money, so their losses are smaller than last year.
The company's boss, Bhavish Aggarwal, said they are not going to offer big discounts to sell more scooters because they want to build a strong business that makes money for a long time.
Instead, they are focusing on making their vehicles better and reducing costs.
They are also trying to make money from other things, like selling spare parts and a new business that stores energy using batteries.
Even though they are selling fewer scooters, the company is trying to be more profitable and build a healthier business.
Ola Electric has significantly lowered its FY26 revenue guidance to INR 3,000-3,200 crore and its vehicle sales target to 220,000 units.
The company reduced its net loss in Q2 FY26 to INR 418 crore, a 15% year-on-year decrease, despite a 43% drop in revenue to INR 690 crore.
Ola Electric's automotive segment reported its first-ever positive EBITDA of 0.3%, with sequential gross margins improving to 30.7%.
Vehicle deliveries fell 46% year-on-year to 52,666 units in Q2 FY26 as the company deprioritizes market share for profitable growth.
The company is banking on ancillary businesses like spare parts and its new Ola Shakti battery energy storage system vertical to supplement revenue, with BESS projected to generate significant revenue by FY27.
