Election Commission Clarifies Notices Do Not Mean Names Deleted

Election Commission Clarifies Notices Do Not Mean Names Deleted

The election office sent notices to some people, including Kejriwal, Jaishankar and Advani.

A notice is not the same as removing someone’s name from the voter list.

The office said names cannot be deleted without first giving voters a chance to explain.

It also said officials must issue a proper order that can be appealed.

The notices were generated by a system.

They are being used to fix information in ECINET.

The election office said receiving a notice does not mean a person will lose voting registration.

The clarification was issued after the notices became public.
