Malda Traders Urge Government to Install Street Lights on NH-12
Business owners in Malda are asking the government to put up street lights on a busy highway that goes through their industrial area.
This part of the highway gets very dark at night, making it dangerous for trucks and workers.
Because it's so dark, some new businesses are hesitant to move in.
The business owners believe that adding lights will make the area safer, help trucks move easily, and encourage more companies to set up shop there, which is good for everyone in Malda.
Malda Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry requested the installation of street lights on NH-12.
The request is for a one-kilometer stretch through Malda Industrial Park Phases I and II.
Traders highlighted the lack of lighting from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. leads to accidents.
The darkness discourages new investors and MSME units from setting up businesses.
The Chamber aims to improve safety, ease of doing business, and promote industrial growth.
