Govt Keeps Interest Rates On Small Savings Schemes Unchanged For Q4 FY26

The government of India has decided to keep the interest rates on small savings schemes the same for the period from January 1, 2026, to March 31, 2026.

This means that schemes like the Public Provident Fund (PPF), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), National Savings Certificate (NSC), and post office deposits will continue to offer the same interest rates as they did in the previous quarter.

The rates for these schemes are reviewed every quarter to ensure they are fair and competitive.

The government wants to make sure that people who save money in these schemes get a good return on their investments.

The rates for the Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme and the Senior Citizen Savings Scheme are the highest at 8.2%.

The Public Provident Fund and the three-year term deposit both offer 7.1%.

The National Savings Certificate offers 7.7%, and the Monthly Income Scheme offers 7.4%.

The Kisan Vikas Patra has an interest rate of 7.5% and matures in 115 months.

The government uses a committee's recommendations to decide these rates, and they are designed to help people save money safely and earn a good return.
