Delhi Police Detain Journalists Covering CEC Protests

Journalists were reporting on protests against India’s chief election commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar.

Delhi Police detained at least nine journalists covering the demonstrations on Sunday.

Some were reporting in Connaught Place, and three from The Indian Express Hindi were taken to Chhatrasal Stadium.

Peek TV said two of its reporters were detained even after showing their press cards.

The journalists mentioned in the report were later released.

More journalists had also been detained while covering protests on Saturday in Delhi and Pune.

Protesters want Kumar to resign because they have concerns about the Election Commission and its handling of voter-roll changes.
