Batwara 1947 Struggles After Monday Crash, Reaches Rs 30 Crore
Batwara 1947 is a movie about the Partition of India.
It stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi.
The film earned Rs 2 crore on its first Monday, much less than the Rs 7.25 crore it made on Sunday.
This was a drop of about 72%.
On Tuesday, it earned slightly more, collecting Rs 2.25 crore.
After five days, it had earned Rs 30.75 crore in India and Rs 43.29 crore worldwide.
Awarapan 2, which released at the same time, has been doing much better.
Critics disagreed somewhat, with some praising the performances while another review called the film average.
Batwara 1947 earned Rs 2 crore net in India on Monday, a 72% drop from Sunday’s Rs 7.25 crore.
The film collected Rs 28.50 crore net and Rs 33.95 crore gross in India after four days.
Tuesday collections rose marginally to Rs 2.25 crore, taking the five-day India net to Rs 30.75 crore.
Its five-day India gross reached Rs 36.54 crore, while worldwide gross stood at Rs 43.29 crore.
Released alongside Awarapan 2, the reportedly Rs 120 crore film has struggled despite positive comments about its performances.

The film could still improve if collections recover during the remaining weekdays and second weekend.
