Telangana Prepares for Power Crisis Amid Coal Shortage

Telangana may face a shortage of electricity in the coming days.

Some power plants are producing less electricity because they do not have enough coal.

The Yadadri plant can produce 4,000 megawatts, but it is currently producing only 800 megawatts.

Officials said the plant has enough coal to continue at that level for only three or four days.

Low-quality coal has also caused problems in two units.

Telangana asked for five million tonnes of extra coal from Mahanadi Coal Limited.

The state says it has not received a response from Coal India or the Union Ministry of Power.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has asked officials to estimate electricity needs for different sectors.

The government is preparing a plan to manage the possible crisis.
