Figure Melts Retired Humanoid Robots in Terminator-Style Furnace Stunt
Figure is a company that makes humanoid robots.
It had older robots called Figure 02 that were no longer needed.
Instead of taking them apart by hand, the company melted some of them in a huge furnace.
The furnace was in Imatra, Finland.
The robots still had their batteries so they could move and jump.
One robot copied a famous scene from Terminator 2.
Arnold Schwarzenegger helped advise on the video.
Figure said the process also helped protect its special robot parts and save engineering time.
Figure disposed of older Figure 02 humanoid robots in a Finnish electric arc furnace.
One robot was lowered into the furnace while others jumped in under their own power.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and former MythBusters contributors helped develop the Terminator-inspired sequence.
Figure said melting the robots protected sensitive electronics and proprietary hardware from reuse or reverse engineering.
The melted material was returned to the United States for planned souvenir production.
