Tambaram Police Raid Student Hostels, Apartments Over Suspected Drug Use

The searches began around 6 am, continued for several hours, and were led by three assistant commissioners of police.
Police checked student rooms, common areas, visitors' bags and belongings, and also inspected plant pots, creepers, landscaped areas and spaces along compound walls.
According to sources, high-grade narcotic substances, drug tablets and cannabis were recovered, though police have not officially disclosed the quantity or nature of the seizures.
Officials plan to trace the source of the substances and identify suppliers, and similar raids could be extended to areas including Tambaram, Pallavaram, the Old Mahabalipuram Road and the East Coast Road.
