Male Tiger Camera-Trapped in Assam’s Dihing Patkai National Park

Male Tiger Camera-Trapped in Assam’s Dihing Patkai National Park

Scientists photographed a male tiger in Assam’s Dihing Patkai National Park.

They used a camera trap, which takes a picture when an animal moves nearby.

The monitoring was done by the Zoological Survey of India and the state forest department.

Forest officials had earlier found tiger footprints called pug marks.

The new photograph confirmed that a tiger is living or moving in the park.

Environmentalists said tigers had been seen there before, but this was the first camera-trap record.

The park is a large rainforest in Assam’s Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.

It is home to eight different kinds of wild cats.
