Fang Fang was once connected to Eric Swalwell and later left the United States.
FBI files reportedly identified her as a contact for an organization founded by C C Yin and Henry Yin.
Henry Yin also attended meetings in China with officials connected to the Chinese government and the United Front.
The Yins have described their activities as civic, business or diplomatic networking.
Experts said the reported connections may be legitimate, but could also be used for political influence.
The Yin family has donated more than $4.4 million to California and federal political causes, according to cited records.
Recipients included campaigns and causes linked to Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, Eleni Kounalakis and John Chiang.
Declassified FBI files identified Fang Fang, also known as Christine Fang, as a past APAPA contact connected to C C Yin, according to sources cited by CBS News.
