India Arms Exports Fuel Gaza Genocide Claims
Amnesty International says India has been sending a lot of weapons parts to Israel since the war in Gaza started.
These parts could be used in attacks on people in Gaza.
India’s government has a close business relationship with Israel’s defense companies.
Amnesty’s top leader warns that India can’t say it didn’t know the weapons might help cause genocide.
The UN has already said Israel’s actions in Gaza are genocide, and many children have been killed.
Amnesty International reports India has exported weapons, ammunition, and components to Israel since Oct 7, 2023, potentially contributing to Gaza genocide.
The report cites nearly 2,600 shipments, including 3.9 million small arms parts and 5.6 million explosive ordnance components.
India’s government has deepened its defense partnership with Israel, with state-owned companies supplying key components.
Amnesty’s Secretary General Agnès Callamard warns that India cannot claim ignorance of the risk of genocide under the International Court of Justice provisional measures.
The UN commission has already declared Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide, and the Israeli military has killed over 73,300 people, including more than 20,000 children.
