Navi Mumbai Workers Threaten Post-Diwali Strike Over Pay Hike

Workers at Navi Mumbai’s civic corporation want their monthly pay increased by ₹7,500.

The corporation’s general body approved the increase, but workers say it has not been put into effect.

They will hold a protest at the Belapur headquarters on September 29.

The protest is planned from 10:30 a.m.

to 5:30 p.m.

Workers are also asking for insurance, unpaid benefits and better facilities.

If their demands are not addressed, they may stop work after Diwali.

A strike could affect garbage collection, sanitation, healthcare support and road maintenance.

The workers say they will protest peacefully and legally.
