Two Women Die Post‑Childbirth at Bhilwara Hospital
Two young women in Bhilwara, India, died after giving birth at a government hospital.
One was sent from another town after her baby was born, and the other gave birth at the hospital itself.
Both had heavy bleeding after delivery, which doctors could not stop in time.
The hospital doctors and health officials are looking into what went wrong.
The state opposition says the government’s health system is failing, while the hospital says it is investigating the deaths.
Sugna Mohan Bairwa and Rani Bhura Banjara died after normal deliveries at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Bhilwara.
Both women suffered severe postpartum bleeding; Bairwa had acute anaemia and Banjara had seizures and abnormal D‑dimer.
The deaths bring the number of maternal deaths at the hospital in July to seven and the state total to 21.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Sanjeev Sharma and Superintendent Dr Arun Gaur said inquiries have been ordered.
Opposition leader Tikaram Jully condemned the incidents as a failure of the state’s healthcare system.
