Trump Signs Russia Sanctions Law, Threatening India-China Oil Trade

Donald Trump signed a new law aimed at Russia and Iran.

The law allows the United States to place tariffs of up to 100% on countries that buy Russian oil.

India and China are major buyers of that oil.

This means their exports to the United States could face serious pressure.

An Indian textile industry group asked its government to negotiate with Washington.

It said higher tariffs would be difficult for Indian textile businesses to absorb.

Russia has already built political, military, and logistical relationships in Africa.

However, African countries do not currently buy large amounts of Russian crude oil.

Egypt is the African country most directly involved in Russia’s energy trade.
