NMC Updates FMGE Eligibility for BS Students
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has made a change to the rules for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).
Now, students who studied online for a BS degree can take the exam.
However, these students will need to do an extra year of internship in India.
For doctors who studied abroad and have an MBBS or similar degree, they need to complete two years of internship.
The NMC says these rules help make sure all doctors have enough practice and meet the same standards.
NMC allows BS online students to appear for FMGE under one-time exemption.
BS students must complete an additional year of internship in India.
Foreign medical graduates require a two-year internship.
Internship requirements aim to ensure adequate clinical exposure.
NMC emphasizes maintaining uniform standards in medical education and practice.
