BTS RM Suspended From Role Model List After Concert Backlash
RM is the leader of the music group BTS.
A nonprofit called The Pixel Project had included him on a list of male role models.
RM and another BTS member, J-Hope, attended a concert by Chris Brown and Usher in Toronto.
They reportedly met the singers backstage and took photographs.
Some fans and observers criticized RM because of his association with Brown.
The Pixel Project said it wanted RM to explain or acknowledge the criticism.
After a week without a public response, it suspended him from the list indefinitely.
The organization said RM had previously made efforts to discuss gender issues and support women.
The controversy has led to a debate about celebrity accountability and whether artists’ public associations should affect their social-impact recognition.
The Pixel Project indefinitely suspended BTS leader RM from its list of 16 male role models.
The decision followed backlash over RM and J-Hope attending a Chris Brown and Usher concert in Toronto.
The two BTS members reportedly met Brown and Usher backstage and posed for photographs.
The Pixel Project said it waited one week for RM to publicly explain or acknowledge the criticism.
