Woman Survives Rare Tractor-Mangling Trauma After Emergency Surgery

A 21-year-old woman was badly hurt in a tractor accident.

Her clothes became caught in the tractor wheel, dragging her along.

She lost a lot of blood and several organs were seriously injured.

Part of her intestines and her stomach moved up into her chest.

Doctors quickly performed an emergency operation that lasted nearly three hours.

They repaired a muscle called the diaphragm and moved her organs back into her abdomen.

They also removed damaged intestine and treated her injured leg.

Doctors said this kind of organ movement happens in less than one percent of serious trauma cases.
