Polestar Orders Green Tugs for Mumbai Port
Polestar Maritime Ltd, a company that helps ships move in ports, has ordered two big, eco-friendly tugboats from Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL).
These tugboats are special because they run on batteries and don’t pollute the air.
They will be built in India using designs from a famous tugboat design company called Robert Allan Ltd.
The tugboats will work at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai.
This is part of a government program to make India’s ports more environmentally friendly.
CSL is excited about this order because it shows their commitment to making India’s maritime industry cleaner and more self-reliant.
Polestar Maritime Ltd ordered two 60-ton battery-electric green tugs from Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL).
The tugs will be deployed at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority under the Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP).
The vessels will be built based on designs from Robert Allan Ltd and constructed jointly by CSL and Udupi-CSL.
The tugs will feature zero direct emissions during harbour operations and use domestically sourced batteries.
This order is part of CSL’s commitment to transforming India’s maritime industry with sustainable and self-reliant initiatives.
