GOP Lawmaker Urges Trump to Restore South Korea Drills

The United States and South Korea regularly practice military exercises together.

President Donald Trump ordered this month’s exercise to be shortened.

He said the drills sent a hostile message to North Korea.

He also pointed to his good relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Representative Rich McCormick said the exercises help the United States and South Korea work together.

He hopes the drills will return to their previous level.

South Korea’s military confirmed that the exercise ended six days earlier than planned.

North Korea said the change did not matter and launched several short-range missiles.
