Government Clarifies No DA/DR Merger with Basic Pay
The Indian government has officially announced the 8th Central Pay Commission, which will be led by Justice Ranjan Prabha Desai.
However, they have also clarified that there are no plans to merge Dearness Allowance (DA) or Dearness Relief (DR) with the basic pay of government employees.
This means that the existing salary structure will remain unchanged, and DA/DR will continue to increase twice a year based on inflation.
Employees and pensioners will have to wait for the 8th Pay Commission's report to understand any future changes to their salaries and allowances.
This announcement was made to address the uncertainty and speculation that had been circulating among employees and unions.
The 8th Central Pay Commission has been officially notified by the Union government.
The government has clarified that it is not considering merging DA/DR with basic pay at this stage.
The 8th CPC will be headed by Justice Ranjan Prabha Desai, with Prof Pulak Ghosh and Pankaj Jain as members.
DA/DR will continue to increase twice a year based on the AICPI-IW inflation index.
Employees and pensioners will have to wait for the 8th CPC report for any future changes to their salaries and allowances.
