Indian team becomes first to summit 6,027-metre Tharang II

A group of ten Indian mountaineers climbed a tall mountain called Tharang II.

The mountain is 6,027 metres high and is in Himachal Pradesh’s remote Miyar Valley.

Their expedition lasted from September 11 to September 22, 2026.

They were the first Indian team reported to reach the summit.

The team made a new climbing route on the mountain’s southwest face.

They climbed the Centre Spur and then followed the west ridge.

They built several camps at increasing heights to prepare safely.

Earlier records say British climber Charlie French and Swedish climber Anette Kinde first climbed the peak in 2016.
