Irrigation Department's Blacklist Threat Meets Resistance from Barrage Builders
Imagine you built some big toy structures, and they got a little broken.
The people who own the toys are asking you to fix them for free.
But to fix them, you need special tools and plans from the owner, and also, the area needs to be emptied of water.
You are saying, 'I can help fix them, but you need to give me the plans, the tools, and get the water out first.'
The owner is also threatening to tell everyone else not to let you build toys for them if you don't start fixing right away.
One builder said they will help, but only after the owner does their part.
The other builders are likely to say the same thing.
The Telangana Irrigation Department has threatened to blacklist three companies over the repair of Kaleshwaram scheme barrages.
Companies Navayuga, Afcons-Vijetha, and L&T are being asked to bear the cost of repairs for the damaged Sundilla, Annaram, and Medigadda barrages.
L&T, one of the construction firms, responded by stating it is cooperating but requires the department to provide essential prerequisites like water depletion, cofferdam construction, drawings, and designs for testing and repairs.
L&T indicated that tests by the Central Water and Power Research Station are necessary and depend on the department's facilitation and provision of a time-schedule.
Navayuga and Afcons are expected to adopt a similar stance, potentially demanding pending bills and treating future works as new projects.
