Attack on Journalist Sparks Protest in Bhupalpally
A news reporter named Pull Ravinder was hurt at his home.
Some people came to his house at night and were mean to him.
They said bad words about his caste and broke his things.
The reporter's friends, who are also journalists, were very upset.
They got together in Bhupalpally to show they were angry.
They wore black badges and blocked the road.
Then they went to the police office to talk to the police chief.
They asked the police to punish the bad people with strong laws.
The police chief said a case was already started.
He promised to add more people to the case if they are found.
Journalists in Bhupalpally staged a protest on Monday condemning the attack on reporter Pull Ravinder (Raviteja) of Chityal mandal.
Wearing black badges, they held a dharna and roadblock at Ambedkar Koodali in the district headquarters.
Unidentified persons allegedly entered Ravinder's house on Sunday night, abused him using caste-related slurs, assaulted him and damaged household property.
The journalists demanded that the attackers be booked under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and that attempted murder charges be added.
District SP Sirishetty Sankirth assured them an FIR had already been registered and said additional accused would be included if identified during the investigation.
