Mumbai Deports 1,066 Bangladeshi Nationals In Eight Months

Mumbai has sent 1,066 Bangladeshi nationals back to Bangladesh during the first eight months of 2026.

These people were suspected of living in Mumbai without valid documents.

This number is already higher than the 1,061 deportations recorded in all of 2025.

It is also much higher than the 164 deportations recorded in 2024.

Police have increased checks across the city to find people suspected of lacking legal documents.

Some people who were deported were later accused of entering India again.

A retired police officer said the government should also investigate how people enter the country.

Maharashtra has formed committees to help process deportation cases more quickly.
